The website of the Israeli organization of expatriates of Bialystok and its surrounding area

Who We Are

Welcome to the website of the Israeli Organization of expatriates of Bialystok and its surrounding area.

The organization is an association whose overall goal is to commemorate the 200,000 members of the Jewish community of the city of Bialystok (in Poland) and its surroundings, who perished in the Holocaust. In addition, to pass on the glorious legacy of the community to future generations, and to maintain contact with the city's expatriates for generations in Israel and abroad.

In memory of the community and for its few survivors, a neighborhood of about 250 private houses were built in 1950. It was named Kiryat Bialystok (today part of the city of Yehud-Monoson) and also several public buildings were built, among them the Bialystok Hall (Beit Haam), a synagogue, a memorial, kindergartens, clinic, high school and more.

Kiryat Bialystok neighborhood was built with funds from Jewish donors original from Bialystok and the surrounding area, and from all over the world. It has been represented since its inception by a local committee that became an association in 1983 (named: "Organization of Bialystok and the Surroundings Expatriates in Israel").

The overall purpose of this website is to establish a contact with the future generations, to present them with information about the city of Bialystok in Poland and Kiryat Bialystok in Israel, and to allow them to share their personal stories or the stories of their relatives during the Holocaust.

In this way, the site will serve as a kind of museum/virtual commemoration site of the Bialystok community.

Best regards

Ron London, chairman of the association.
